NEPAL INDIA BORDER AT MIDNIGHT 1 AM

I recently visited Baharaich, India for work. I have been doing photography for the last two years. I've visited different places in Nepal for photography work. It was my first time going to India for a photograph. It was Dec. 17 I and my two friends went to Bacharach India.

It was 11 AM. I just came home from campus. I got a call from a friend to get ready and came to Tribhuvan Chowk. We picked up our bag with a camera and cleaned my friend's car. We started our journey from Tribhuvan Chowk to Bacharach. My friend Prajwal was riding in a car. My and brother Ramesh were sitting in a car.

We left here at 1 o'clock and reached Bahraich at 4 o'clock. We reached there and did our work and by the time we finished, it was 10 p.m. We had that dinner. There were three of us when we left and six of us when we returned, three more friends coming to Nepal were added with us. We knew that the border would close at 9 o'clock, but we left for Nepalgunj at 10 o'clock. There were 6 of us in the car, the winter season was starting, there was fog on the road, we were coming slowly, it was getting foggier at night, it was difficult to drive the car, when the car was at speed, the fog like clouds came in the middle of the road, it felt like we were in the sky. Listening to DIVINE's song and gossiping in the car, we reached Rupaidiha. By the time we reached Rupaidiha, it was already noon, the border was closed because the vehicle had an Indian number plate, it would be closed at 9 p.m. and we could not clear the customs. That's why we decided to park the car at Rupaidiha. We could not come to Nepal because the border was closed. We first talked to the Indian police, we told the Indian police that we were late due to work and we showed our identity cards and the police told us that we cannot go through the main border because the main border is closed and there are cameras on the border and they told us to go from another side and not walk at night from now on. we parked the car at Rupaidiha and 6 of us crossed the border by walking on the side road.

It was almost 1 o'clock in the night and we crossed the border by walking. I felt very safe when I came to my country. Now that we had come to Nepal, we thought that the Nepalese police will interrogate us, but we have come ahead of the police station. We have already crossed the border and now we had to go to Tribhuvan Chowk. Tribhuvan Chowk was about 6 kilometers away from the border. There was no chance of getting any vehicle at 1 o'clock in the night. 6 of us were ready to walk.
Meanwhile, a rickshaw was coming towards us from the front and we asked them to stop the rickshaw and let us go to Tribhuvan Chowk. We were me and 5 other friends. 5 of my companions were Madhesi. The rickshaw driver we stopped was also a Madhesi. My friends spoke in the Madhesi language and persuaded the rikshaw driver to go to Tribhuvan Chowk at 500. The rickshaw driver was saying in Madhesi language that he was ready in 500 only because he is Madhesi. He was saying that if there were non-Madhesi in our place, he would have not taken less than 1000 and he was laughing saying what they would have given. We boarded a rickshaw and our journey to Tribhuvan Chowk began.

The rickshaw driver told us that the police will stop by when we go from the main road. he took us from another route. That road was very lonely and dark. There were no lights on anywhere and it was foggy. In the meantime, we saw about 15 rickshaws coming towards us from the front and the rickshaw we were riding in stopped suddenly, many things started playing in our minds. We had about 5.6 lakh belongings in our bags like cameras, laptops, and other items. They were trying to rob somewhere, but we were six young men and we were ready to fight. The rickshaw in which we were riding stopped and the rickshaw man got down and took out a long thick rod from the rickshaw and gave us by saying keep it for safety, we were all silent and were ready to fight if anything happened. He started driving a rickshaw.

The rickshaw we were driving was going ahead and about 15 rickshaws were coming towards us from the front. There was a doubt that something would happen in the mind. We were holding the rod in our hands. Rickshaws were coming towards us from the front. Along with the rickshaw, there was also a motorcycle. The rickshaws came near and a rickshaw driver coming from the front said to our rickshaw puller dai "Kya halaal bhaiya" and our rickshaw driver asked "Sab theek, kaha saman carrying karey?" The rickshaw driver said "Ha bhaiya" and we Moved forward, 15 rickshaws and a motorcycle passed by the side of the rickshaw we were riding. We were moving forward on a deserted road, and an old man was sitting with a tent, the rickshaw stopped and the rickshaw man said to the old man that he wanted a blanket. and he was trying to give him a blanket, but the old man refused to take it. It was surprising to see an old man sitting alone in a tent on this cold and dark night. We moved forward. We asked the rickshaw driver who they were and he told us that the 15 Rickshaws we saw were rickshaws that smuggled food products from India by evading customs. The rickshaw driver said that the motorcycle seen with the rickshaw belonged to the police. Rikshawdriver said that the old man sitting in a tent we saw was a reporter who informs us about who has come and gone on the road. While we were talking, we crossed a village and came out to Chaulika Chowk. A man was sitting in Chowk too, looking at him it seemed that he was not afraid of anyone. He was sitting alone in the middle of the road on a lonely night. The Rikshaw driver said that that man is also a reporter. Go your way without us saying anything.

At 1, 2 o'clock in the night, we came to know that the goods were being smuggled illegally by evading customs. According to the rickshaw puller, the Deputy Mayor of Nepalgunj, Kamruddin Rai, is the one who does all that work. Dai said that all the goods coming in the rickshaw will come to the godown of Kamrudin Rai and all the goods will be supplied to the Triveni line in Nepalganj when all this is done, the police, SP, and all the small and big police will get the commission. How much truth was in this thing, how much was a lie, no one knows. but it was surprising to see that illegal work was done even from the border of Nepalgunj & to hear the name of the people's representative that we voted for has been involved. Due to unemployment in Nepal, rickshaw drivers are involved in illegal. Our rickshaw driver said that a rickshaw driver earns Rs 300 to Rs 500 per trip and one person earns Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000 a night.

While talking, we reached Tribhuvan Chowk. As we reached our destination, I felt as if I had stepped out of a dream. It was 2 o'clock when we reached Tribhuvan Chowk. We gave 500 to the rickshaw driver and everyone went home. I and my friend Prajwal went to his house and slept.
