Our Mahakumbh Journey from Nepalgunj, Nepal
Day 1: Starting the Trip
On Magh 19, we started our journey to Mahakumbh. There were seven of us, all excited for the trip. We left around 10 AM, crossed the border at Rupaidiha, passed through Bahraich, and stopped at Gonda for breakfast. After traveling the whole day, we reached Prayagraj at 8 PM.
One of our friend’s uncles was already there. He guided us over the phone to find a place to stay. Since rooms were full, locals were renting out their houses. We stayed in one of those houses, paying 1,000 INR per person, including breakfast and lunch.
For dinner, we walked a little to a restaurant called Krishna Bhog. The food was very tasty! After dinner, we went back to our stay and rested for the next day.
Day 2: Exploring the Kumbh Mela
In the morning, we had a big breakfast and started walking towards the Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers meet. We walked about 10 kilometers, enjoying the crowd, talking, and having fun along the way.
We planned to do snaan (holy bath) on Vasant Panchami, but when we reached there, we found out that Vasant Panchami had already started. We also learned that we wouldn’t be able to do snaan the next day because it was reserved for the Aghori Babas. So, we decided to do snaan that same day.
After the snaan, we visited the Akhadas (monk camps) and walked around the Kumbh Mela. We met many sadhus and babas and even met Umesh Guru from Nepalgunj. He invited us to stay at his ashram, where we spent the night and had simple, delicious food.
Day 3: Heading Back Home
The next morning, before our friends woke up, one brother and I went to the ghat (riverbank), but it was closed. So, we walked around for a while, returned to the ashram, had prasad, and then packed our bags to return to Nepalgunj.
This Mahakumbh trip was a special and unforgettable experience for all of us. The snaan, the huge crowd, and meeting different people made the trip truly amazing. We returned home tired but happy, with memories we’ll never forget.
